.44mag for deer season!
« on: September 01, 2012, 06:58:13 PM »
Just bought my first revolver, a super blackhawk hunter with a simmons 2.5-7x scope. I'm hoping to take it deer hunting since the girlfriend is using my 12ga this year. i can't wait to get into reloading it and maybe casting someday!

It'll get it done in spades.   I had a couple of them that took a few mule deer for me in the 70's/80's when I happened to pick them for a hunt.   Had both a 7.5" and a 10.5".

Manageable even for a kid that has a couple of years shooting under his belt working up to them.

My son shooting the 10.5" with full house reloads, age 9.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I've have two taurus 44 mag 8 3/8" barrels full shroud with porting and love them, one stainless and one blued.
Killed 5 deer with the blued one and they dropped dead about 50 feet from where they were shot. The stainless one I use for shooting IHSMA, metal targets at 50 meters out to 200 meters.FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why wait for deer season?  If you like to sit for squirrels take it with you.  When one offers a safe shot on the ground and / or against a tree  take it!  The woods time will really pay off with using a scope.  At least take it out and dry fire on some tweety birds if nothing else.
