7mm 08 Encore barrel length
« on: November 11, 2012, 12:34:57 PM »
I have read different reactions to firing 7mm 08 Encore pistols with varying barrel lengths. What are the causes /effects of using that caliber in the optimal barrel lengths. The effects I'm interested in are recoil, muzzle blast barrel jump and comfortable hunting weight.    kody

Much of your result depends on where you intend to hunt.  Also on whether you will load your own or be confined to factory offerings.  Are you going to use it as a rifle or handgun ?

In a pistol length I like the 14"-16" barrels as you get good velocity and they don't kick bad at all.
For a rifle barrel I like the 20"-22" and you'll get pretty much everything the cartridge has to offer in a compact package.   Mike
