Puzzling Problem with my Hornet

Hey yall:
I searched the FAQ's, and help articles, but no luck on this one. My 22 Hornet is a like new SB2, and the barrel is a factory 22 Hornet, of course.
Here is my problem: When you open this gun, there is a big bunch of "wobbly" movement, and when locked, it's like a bank vault. What in the world can/could I do, because I really don't like this.
This rifle is super accurate, absolutely no problems on that account. Much better shooter than I am capable of.
Next thing, that bothers me, is; sometimes it will unlock upon firing. Also, at times, some cases will stick in the chamber; have to shove them out with a cleaning rod. These loads are by no means max, they are the topmost good loads with Lil Gun and IMR-4227. Just good ole standard loads by all the manuals.

Lets do this in order , first the wobble , that sounds like you need a shim berween the end of the forarm and the plastic spacer that allows the rifle to pivit open .
 
2nd , the pop open may be a couple things , either you have a poor latch shelf lock-up when closing or you may need to work on the latch shelf to make sure your getting proper contact all the way across the shelf .
 
3rd , the case sticking may be a couple things too , first it may be lube on either the case or in the chamber , but more likely its just a rough chamber and it could use a bit of polishing to smooth our the chamber surface .

I will work on these problems, but; have no experience shimming up the forearm. Is there something on the stickies here on FAQ'S ? If you have done this, holler back at me. Like, what to use for the shim, how to make one, etc ? I'm dumb as a brick on how to do this.

The easyest way is to remove the forarm , take out the 2 little + screws that hold it on and put a thin peice of casdboard ( cracker or cerial box material ) between the forend and the spacer , reinstall the screws and see what that does for you - ajust thickness as needed .

Hello Stimpylu:
Problem solved on the "wobble" with barrel down in the reload position. What I done was; I got another Handi out, swapped the 22 Hornet barrel full assembly, scope, forearm and all, to another frame. Bingo, locked up tighter than Dick's hatband, and I test fired it, all good to go, except the rounds, or most of them stuck in the chamber and had to rodded out with my cleaning rod. I'll be working on that problem, and will solve it. Could be my tiny lubing of the cases, (using Redding Imperial Sizing Wax), just a "kiss". I was hoping this would help my thin Hornet brass, not stretch the necks, etc. Well, I will go without it a while, and thoroughly clean the rifle, the latch plate, etc.
Again, thanks so much. I feel much better, now. Like I said, I love this lil gun. I have other guns, but this one has bonded to me.

I do this to all my Handi's new or used when I get them, from FAQ:
"Basics for FTE, too hot hand loads, Milsurp, dirty or oily chamber or ammo will all cause stuck cases. Clean, dry chamber and ammo is paramount. Next is polishing of the chamber which is standard procedure for any ejector equiped barrel, can be done with a patch wrapped bore mop chucked in a drill, use flitz, JB bore compound or any fine metal polish, just polish it a couple minutes changing the patch and adding polish frequently. You can also use a fired case with a screw stud stuck in the flash hole and chucked in a drill."

There was also a thread a few weeks ago about sticky cases and clean shiny brass is a must.

if your using rem cases try winchester cases that  stopped 99 % of the sticking issues for me
