Marlin .22 trigger spring swap??
« on: September 19, 2012, 05:28:13 AM »
I have a Marlin Glenfield Model 25 bolt action rifle. On another website, numerous posters talked about rep.lacing a spring with a spring from a ball point pen to lighten the pull. When looking at my rifle, it is made differently than a pic of one posted. anyone know anything about swapping the spring. They said it reduced the pull to about 3#. I dont want to spend any money on this, if it cant be done safely thats ok the gun shoots fine, just has a heavy pull.          thanks in advance.

I put a Rifle Basix trigger in my brand new Marlin 17VS 11+ years ago ($90) and other expensive goodies, but then the 17HMR is a tack driver and deserves the best even in a Marlin.   Back then this was the choice for a Marlin cheap trigger fix though.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Reducing the spring tension can help reduce the pull as long as full spring extension is maintained and the trigger passes the slam and bump tests it should be safe.. I've attached a link to a parts diagram..good luck.. If you have further questions I usually hang on the gunsmithing forum...
