Went to the gun show yesterday in Fairbanks. No empty tables this year, and guns going out the door real fast. Some of the guys that came up from Anchorage were fussing they had not brought enough stock. Was surprised did not see a single Handi, usually see a bunch. Only three H&R shotguns two 410s and one twenty gauge. Did see several Rossi combination .22/410, but mostly bolt and lever guns. Pistols on every table of every kind. Pistols were selling fast. I was looking at a Walther P-38. Could not decide if I wanted it or another one on the next table. Went to lay it down so I could move over and look at the other one. A woman came up and took it from my hand. She pulled the slide back, locking it to the rear. Then she released the lever and let it go forward. That got the attention of the seller. When he came over she said I'll take it. She handed him cash and headed for the door. The one on the next table had the original German Holster, and the guy wanted too much for it. Both were WWII models.
The guy that sells cast bullets was doing a booming business. Buy the middle of the afternoon he was taking orders since his stock on hand was getting low. He said he had more at home but not enough to last a second day. So he was going to be doing a lot of casting last night. He had called his wife and told her to go by his supplier and get more lead, and to load and turn on the lead pot before he left the show. He was totally out of big (500gr) 45s, and 50 cal. Getting low on 357/358s when I left.
I bought two boxes of factory 454 ammo. And another Savage 24, .22mag/20ga. Don't know why I bought that one, since I like my .223/20. What am I going to shoot with a .22mag?
The wife is going today, she is looking at the fur some guys selling, and jewelry. The neighbor's wife is going to show her how to make hats and mittens out of Beaver and Fox. Was looking for a tee shirt I've seen around town, but apparently the guy that sells them did not make the show. It shows a Wolf Snare with the price of $1.35, then a Wolf Trap with the price of $125.00, Then a Wolf Pelt with the price of $400.00. The environmentalist hate it. I'll probably go back today to see what the wife does. Who knows I might find something I just can't live without myself. There was a few real nice M1 Garands. I need an AR that shoots something bigger than .223 accurately. Something with some range and still have energy. Or maybe a BAR or Remington auto in 257 Roberts, 25-06, or 270. Hay, I'll play with anything. I got the rest of my life to do what I want.
