Watching an interview with Chuck Yeager on the history channel discussing fighter pilots. Here is a quote" 11 % of US fighter pilots, shot down 92% of enemy planes. After ww2 the government done a study as to why. Those 11% were raised in a RURAL AREA AND ALL WERE HUNTERS!!!!!!" end quote. Some of these tree huggers need to hear that in and realize that we are speaking ENGLISH not GERMAN!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't suprise me at all. Not sure the difference would be as much the skill level as the ability to perform under pressure. Sucessful hunting/shooting often involves being able to keep your composure and calculating and knowing when to pull the trigger. Experience an urban raised soldier may take some time to develop under combat conditions.
Just another worthless opinion!!

The same was true of WWI.

In England, Germany and France, the vast bulk of their aces were the landed gentry who grew up hunting.  Of the countries without a landed gentry (and possibly over-all), Canada led the way in the number of top aces - virtually all of whom were country boys who grew up with a gun in their hands.
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!

my son-inlaw's grandfather was a Canadian WWll fighter pilot ace with twenty plus kills. He contributes his success to his early years as a bird hunter and knowing how to lead his prey.
