Sounds like a good plan, and if you are like me, half your hearing is gone anyhow, so you may not notice any problem at all, ha My uncle and cousin both shot nice bucks up near Kountze/Honey Island way on Thanksgiving. My uncle's first one with a 22-250, he liked it fine.
