Had an MRI last Friday
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:39:31 AM »
I hurt my back, bad, about 5 weeks ago and have been out of work.I  had to dance through all the medical issurance hoops to get a MRI.They tried physical therapy and I got worse.I can't walk or put any weight on my right leg,hip/back.Pain meds aren't the answer.I tried a chiropractor and that didn't help'I had steriod injections and that made it worse.Hopefully this week I can get in to see the orthopedic specialist I've been going to and find a solution.I'm almost afraid to hear what he has to say.
My wife has been a saint putting up with me.I hobbled outside and leaned against the tailgate of the truck. She brought me my 2 lure buckets and put some Moundmaster on the tail of a pesky neighbors dog.I laughed until it hurt watching the other dogs chase this mutt to smell the lure.I don't think she'll be left loose once the neighbor smells the mutt.Bill
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

My brother was a Gov't trapper and he hurt his back 2 1/2 years ago moving a hog trap. They managed to screw him around for almost a year with all kinds of "therapy" and none of it did anything but make it worse. He ended up at a back specialist who did the MRI and it took the Gov't another 6 months to okay the surgery. Unfortunately he'll never get over it and is in constant pain. Had they taken care of his back quickly instead of screwing him around the probabilities are high he would have had a 100% recovery. He's now looking at yet more surgery because the bones are in a deteriorating state from it taking so long to be treated correctly. The message here is don't wait around or fool with "therapies". Get to a back specialist and quick. Your health and your future is at risk. And whatever the specialist says, make it happen quick.

Not sure about the waiting part.  The doctors I have talked to say I should avoid surgery if possible because it may make my back worse.  I assume you have had xrays also, some bone problems do not show up on MRIs.  I initially had an MRI which showed disc problems but not bone issues.  When I later was diagnosed with a pars fracture my employer's insurance company used the uncertainty of the MRI to deny me workman's Comp.
