Marlin MR-7 in 30-06
« on: October 29, 2012, 11:52:04 AM »
Anyone else have one of these if so, what are your opinions of it? Mine seems to shoot handloads very well and I plan to deer hunt with it in November.  Thanks!    :)

Mine is not in 30-06 but in 270.  But still, a very good inexpensive rifle that shoots sub 1" groups from the factory.  I did lower the trigger pull on mine but that's not really a mod as much as turning a screw.  Yes, its that easy.
I too plan on using mine this upcoming deer season.  I don't really need the 270, but its hard to get rid of a gun that shoots this good ( with so little invested).
Good luck with your 30-06.  It will do the job.
thanks,

I've also got one in 270, and can honestly say its incredibly accurate as well.  Mine was the MR-7B, of which there were only a few made.  Its got the cheaper birch stock, but is still pretty nice looking.  Wish I had the 30-06 I saw in the store at the same time.  Bought my MR-7B for 260 bucks about 12 years ago.  The XL series is nice, but not near as nice a bolt or smoothness of action.
