Will using a 22 lr chamber adapter damage my 223?
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:45:57 PM »
Will the miniscule difference in bullet diameter make the 22 lr go rattling down the 223 barrel and damage it?  I could not find answer with a search.
Thanks

Not likely.  Might get a little leading at the leade or some such, but the 22 is leaving at 1/3 the speed of the 223, and the worse scenario is it probably won't be accurate.

As Ben said +1 all points.    I've had a bunch of them in many different combos shooting 22 pellet, 22LR, 22MAG. 22 Hornet and larger in larger cases.   Only one was accurate enough to really be useable, a 222/22LR adapter but ONLY when in a 14" barrel (nothing else).  You won't be shooting much with it when you see what the accuracy is.    It will shoot lower even at short ranges unless you move your sights.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I've had good results with the .22 mag adaptor in my 14 inch .223

Great info!  Thanks.  Since I've got both the 10"' and 14" 223 barrels I'll pay the $15 and try the longer barrel.
