H&R Boyd's thumbhole stock questions...
« on: October 11, 2012, 04:59:54 AM »
I'm sure it's been asked in some way or another however.  My one pet peeve of just about any scoped rifle is the poor cheek weld on most stocks.  It's not even a cheek weld it's more of a jaw weld.  While it's shootable snap shots are a problem as it makes it much less consistent for me getting my eye relief.

Does the boyd's stock comb come up high enough for a proper cheek weld?  IE is it about 1½ - 2+ taller than the factory wood monte carlo stock?  It doesn't look it from the pictures however could have a different angle from the receiver which would alter the height of the comb as well.

Sounds like you would prefer the Roll-over cheek piece stock from Gunstocks Inc.

Since you're inquiring about a t-hole stock, GSI's Stinger has a very high comb.

Do the new Handi-Grip stocks have a comb higher than the factory monte's?
Lead me not into temptation but point me to it instead.

No, it's a bit low for some folks as are the laminated t-holes.

The roll-over cheekpiece stock from gunstocks inc looks like it might be the ticket.  Anybody have these installed on their handi's? Would like any feedback possible.
