S&W 500 Trailboss Load
« on: October 24, 2012, 02:24:07 AM »
I finally got some brass for my Handi Rifle in S&W 500.
I am starting off with a Lee minne bullet of about 440gn. I want to use Trailboss powder and am looking at a starting load of 10gns. but I do not have access to a chrono. can any one tell me what Fps I can expect from this load? Or can you tell me what load you are using with a similar bullet and Trailboss powder?

Hodgdon's lists a 370 grain from 746fps @ 8 grains to 926fps @ 12 grains.  These are pistol speeds, so the rifle should be a little faster.  The bullet is also 10 grains heavier than yours so that should give you a little more speed as well.  Hope this helps, good luck!
