Turkey With the Shorty
« on: October 23, 2012, 09:58:48 AM »
Yesterday after work went out looking for stand locations for deer season.  Took my 12ga shorty because it was easy to care while walking.  I ran into a flock of 8 or 9 Toms and the shorty came through.  I brought home this 16LB tom.  Got him at between 40 and 50 yards, dropped him stone dead.

Good job!  ;) That's a pretty long kill shot with that Shorty. What shot size and brand were you using?

What type of choke? That's a long shot, nice job making it happen.

I had a Colonial full choke tube in the gun.  I had them put in my 1100 as well and they are awesome.  I had Winchester Supreme 1 3/4 oz of #4s.  After I shot all the other toms flew away and I thought I didn't get anything. Then I saw him dead on the ground.  Those Colonial tubes have amazed me before with the distance I get out of them.

did you thread the barrel yourself for the tube or have a gunsmith do the work?

Nice shootin'. 8)

I had a gunsmith named Michael Orlen in Amherst MA cut the barrel and install the tubes. He did an excellent job, was very fast and a very reasonable price.
