Doe antelope video-Shot from sitting position
« on: October 16, 2012, 04:38:45 AM »
MOA Maximum, 14" barrel, chambered in 308 Win.
Hornady TAP Ammo (168 grain A-Max).
I think this is the first time I have ever used factory ammo on a game animal.

Nice shot. I love that tripod and the sniper rest.  Need to find one of those for my 7mm-08 Encore pistol.

What is the deal with the Mac the coyote video that followed???

My friend raised a coyote from a pup and besides family I am one of the few he will actually play with.

Actually, I really didn't consider it that far of a shot ;D
Using the new HD BOG-POD by BOG-GEAR, combined with a little attachment called the Sargent Sniper Rest (Not a BOG-GEAR product).
Since the Sargent Sniper Rest is so short and if you are using a bi-pod in conjunction with it (That is the key-Also don't use a pod-loc).
It is a little slow on the set-up though. I also use Bog-Gear's PSR top with this tripod for handgun.
The PSR pans a lot easier but is not as rock solid like the SSR is when used with the BOG-POD and bi-pod.
Out to 300-400 both will work great.  I have taken hits on steel out to 600 using the PSR top.

During the hunt, I kept having to rotate the tri-pod as the doe was moving (with the SSR), since the back leg must come straight back for it to be used the way we set it up. The other two legs have to be at 3 & 9 O'Clock for it to be rock steady, since the back of the bi-pod legs have to be up against the front of the Bog-Gear Bog-Pod legs.
I will post some pics once I get USB drive from my hunting buddy. He took all the pics and it will be easier to see what I am talking about.

500+ yard shots from the sitting position are very doable with this set-up.
I may take it out to a grand on steel (BOG-POD with Sargent Sniper Rest attachment) in the future just to show how steady it is.

Yeah, I'd like to see a picture of your rest setup.  I would assume it would work just as well for a rifle rest, minus the sniper rest.

Bog-gear/Bog-Pod works very good with rifles.

Very enjoyable watch Ernie, as all your vids are.
Thanks for sharing.

Here is the older version of the Eliminator in action.
Buck antelope from last year.  Not great film quality, but a great time.

sir, what does that rig weigh in at?

looks to be a good bit more than one
of my contenders. of course, that would
be a help on those shots you're making.
most of what i do is 100 + - yards or less.

b.t.w. - good views from your hunt area.
is that your place?  be nice just to sit and
gaze a while.( maybe a little nap too  ;) )

The MOA Maximum in 308 Win is 6 pounds something...with scope and everything.
The rear grip bolt rig is a Switch Barrel/Switch Stock specialty handgun that has two barrels:
A lighter weight 6.5 Leopard (WSM) and a heavy 7mm WSM.
With the 7WSM barrel and a weighted BR stock the total package weighs just under 16 pounds.
Not sure of weight with McRee chassis on it.
In the video it has the McRee on it but I also have a BR stock for competing in 1000 yard matches.
Here are some pics with its different looks:

Past June with a 5-shot group at a 1000 yards (BR stock).  Group under 4 inches.
