Relatives Found
« on: October 13, 2012, 03:24:00 AM »
I did a search in April looking for a grandmother that I learned had passed in 1999. Then yesterday I found she had other grandchildren from my same father. My parents were divorced less than a year after they wed. They divorced due to an unexpected pregnancy and the pregnant woman was not my mother. ::) That "child" contacted me yesterday after years of research trying to locate me. He finally found my profile on Skype and sent me a PM. Now I have the stress of hard decisions. What do I tell someone that is closely tied to the man that left me 30+ years ago and never made an attempt to contact me? What do I tell him after he admitted my father tried to keep me a secret all his life? Tough decisions.... Right now I'm very guarded and will continue to exercise caution when sharing info with him. One can't be too cautious these days, especially now that I have a young family.

Anyone else experience something similar? Any advice?

Thanks, Dinny

Just remember, you have done nothing wrong.  You have nothing to be ashamed about and you owe no explanations.
