I have one, seems to shoot OK. It is an animal all it's own. It was given to me, would not pay money for one.

That gun was made by the Stanley Works in New Britain.

I have never shot one.

The 'Luger Myth' is appealing, but this 22 ain't a Luger. It balances poorly for me and though Ive had the chance at several through the years Ive never dropped the cash or shot one. My guess is they are no more than a plinker. The prices now are even higher (WAY higher) than the ones Ive passed on, so unless I could score it for no more than $100 I'd probably not buy one.
You would be far better served to throw whatever money they are asking for it, and some more, at a Ruger Auto. The MkI on have a similar look , proven performance, real metal and a re-sale. FWIW, we recently have been messing about with the new Ruger SR-22 and though it does not look at all like this gun, it is looking to be my choice for a 'kit-gun' in auto-loader now. As a 'traditionalist' I never thought I'd be attracted to the new generation of handguns, but here I am doing it.

Lack of accuracy and reliability were always issues.

i messed with one once thinking of buying it.i never could get it to function properly. it just seemed like 22 was not powerfull enuf to actuate the luger style action. i did not however try any of the higher priced shells like cci stingers.it just didnt seem like a quality gun to me and i passed.

This one has been shot / used so i believe it fuctions ok.  I looked at the ones on you tube and there very impressive.  I hope i got a good one time will tell.  I already have a ruger MkI and MkII.   I just wanted something different like a luger looking 22cal pistol.

i too hope you got a good one. i really like the idea of a luger style 22 pistol.let us know when you shoot it what your impression is of it. it just seems to me that the weird luger style action may take more power than what the 22 lr puts out to function reliably.

Im not sure if it matters yet but i read there are two different stoeger lugers.  On one the frame is an alloy and on the other its steel.  The steel receiver is worth more money. The steel receiver feels more balanced too.
If your looking for new luger 22lr mags triplek has them.

A few years ago a gent tried to get me to trade my trusty old 1949 High Standard HD military 6 7/8 for a like new in box Stoeger Luger Navy model... the one with the wood forend and L - O - N - G barrel, plus he'd add a $200 kicker.

No freaking way.  I had heard way too many bad things about them with reliability and accuracy issues.   The HD has severed me very well since the mid 50's, my grandfather before me who bought it new.   I still have my HD, have put countless rounds through it... we celebrated 64 year old B-Days together earlier this year (but I wish I was still in as good of conditon as it and it's holster are though).   ;)
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I bought one back in the mid 70's. It was a tack driver and worked flawlessly. Unfortunately it walked off in a burglary. I'm going to assume that the one I had was all steel as it was just as heavy as my brother real WWII German Luger. I wish I had the gun back as it was a hoot to shoot. A new one, alloy frame, I don't think I'd be a player for one. As I remember correctly I paid $68.00 for mine.

I believe that Erma was the importer before Stoger.  At least as I remember the write up on the first one I heard of way back 40 + years ago.  They are a straight blowback action with the toggle link only riding along for the looks of it.  It seemed that having to move the extra weight of the toggle did slow the action enough that they did much better with stronger ammo such as CCI Mini Mags.  Enjoy it as being fun and different.  You can't own too many .22 handguns!  44 Man
