Outdoor portable radio
« on: July 02, 2023, 07:47:04 AM »
Ok all yall that really know about
electrical things and don't depend
on yoofloob

I've had a small portable outdoor radio
for some years, and is powered by an
internal battery that's recharged by
a solar cell on top, or a dynamo crank,
or USB port
An acquaintance and myself were having
a "discussion " and he swears that playing
music draws more "voltage " and runs it
down faster than just listening to news or a
talk show
I know that increased volume will use more
available power, but not music over talking

Any option?

( hopefully this is the right section)
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I always figured that the on/off switch was the biggest contributer to battery life. I don't really understand such things, but doubt there's any real difference concerning talking vs music.

JMO i can't see any difference myself in
the manner of noise that comes out,
only in the volume which I do believe
does use more electricity, and I don't
think it's a significant difference on a
small hand sized radio such as this

Now,  if we were talking the ghetto
wagons with the big wheels and big
round speakers and amplifiers that
that drive along  BOOMP BOOMP
BOOMP BOOMP BOOMP BA BOOMP
BA BA BA BOOMP BOOMP BOOMP

Yeah.  Those do put a significant
drain on the car's electrical distribution
and charging
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
