I have a Marlin Guide Gun I really like!  It is an accurate little gun, and much handier than my Buffalo Classic in the woods.

Would like a Sharps or Marlin or Winchester 1885 in 45/70 but they are kind of pricey for me.
Before we could use rifles for deer hunting in our part of NYS, I had a 20 ga. Pardner slug gun with a 45/40 accessory barrel.  I used that as a 45/70 for a few years before rifles were legal (go ahead-call 911 and have them come get me).  So simple and easy to carry and use.  Just me, the rifle, the knife and a few cartridges in my pocket.  Still my first choice for deer hunting here and now I'm even legal.

Well I started with a remington 30-06 , then got a rem bolt 270, which I love and find very dependable for harvesting white-tail,
Then I perchased a 45/70 handi, and fell in love allover again, Listened to other people who said that the 444 was better bought one of them great gun but falls short of replacing the 45/70, same for the .35 rem, and 7mm-08, Now I have just purchased a .35 whelen which I haven't seen yet. will have to wait and see if it makes the grade.
