Anyone From Missouri?
« on: January 14, 2012, 01:03:34 PM »
I've long had my crossbow permit but things have changed since I got mine. Mine's a laminated card and permanent. My son and I were in an ATV accident back in September. He broke his left arm at the elbow. It's healed but he'll never be able to straighten it out again and it's also very painful when he draws a bow. Soooooo, we want to get him a crossbow permit. My question is how do you go about it these days? i know you still need a doctor's statement but that's about it.

Branson here. Yep, probably a good idea. Will call them monday. I've had my permit since 85 so a lot has changed. :)

I sent my doctor letter in and heard nothing back from the Dept.  I know the new permits are not life time only five year.
Mo may relax the bowhunting stds to allow crossbows in regular bow season, if so the handicapped permit would no longer be neccessary for general hunts.

So are the older cards issued still valid?

Yes, if you already have one you're "Granfathered" in if it has "Permanent" on it. Mine was issued back in 85 and also covers hunting from a vehicle. It is stamped permanent and remains so. :) Only way to lose the privalage is to do something serious enough wrong to cause them to void it.
