LA declares all future Mondays to be meatless.
« on: November 12, 2012, 04:59:17 PM »
Los Angeles City Council declares all future Mondays to be 'meatless'  Published November 12, 2012
FoxNews.com    The Los Angeles City Council has declared every Monday to be a so-called 'meatless Monday,' and is urging all residents to participate in the weekly day of vegetarianism.
NBC Los Angeles reports that with the vote Los Angeles has become the largest city to embrace the Meatless Monday campaign, a nonprofit with the goal of cutting down on meat consumption for health and environmental reasons.

Neither city officials nor law enforcement will be allowed to force residents to not eat meat, The Los Angeles Daily News reports. Rather, the resolution is meant to encourage residents to not eat meat once a week in the hopes of starting a city-wide trend.

Councilwoman Jan Perry, who has pushed for a ban on new fast-food restaurants in South Los Angeles, said the resolution is part of an overall "good food" agenda for the city.
"We can reduce saturated fats and reduce the risk of heart disease by 19 percent," Perry said according to the Los Angeles Daily News. "While this is a symbolic gesture, it is asking people to think about the food choices they make. Eating less meat can reverse some of our nation's most common illnesses."

Yea, Right.  What is McDonalds going to do?  Close on Monday night?  Oh that's right, one can sit and eat French Fries and Apple pies while they drink their Super Size Colas.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Needless to say, such a proclamation will increase meat consumption on Mondays by 10 to 25%. Seems to work that way, doesn't it?

Sitting here where I am......first thought, who cares? At least as long as they don't expect us back here to follow along.

So LA has solved all it's other problems and city council can now worry about what people eat , can we assume all people in LA have enough to eat in the first place ? Or is it they can't cure the real ills of the city and instead choose to look busy with this kind of BS. ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

That's all they can fix.  The rest is insurmountable.  ;D
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

I'm a recovering Catholic. This brings to mind that when a boy, the Catholic Church had a rule, that you couldn't eat meat on Friday.  It was a mortal sin if you did. A mortal sin is punishable by going to hell for eternity. I wonder how many Catholic souls are in hell for breaking this rule before the church abolished it.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

I've read a lot about how people who actually cut virtually all cholesterol from their diets produce it naturally to compensate, but it's hard on the liver to do so, and that particular form of cholesterol congeals in the circulatory system much worse than more typical types, causing much more damage.  scrawny people are generally weaker and prone to illness anyways, why starve oneself scrawny.  it's not natural to be a vegetarian, and definitely not vegan.  they have to make their meal plans out way in advance like a chess game to not become malnourished in short order UNLESS THEY RELY ON SUPPLEMENTS so how natural and "healthy" is that.  saturated fats, cholesterol, lipids in general- some people can break them down easily, some cannot.  that's just how it is.  dieting isn't gonna fix a genetic issue, it's just gonna buy a little more time.  oh that's right!  less lipids and cholesterol and SATURATED FATS means increased difficulty in hormone production, which means being sickly.  lots of people with heart issues have CONGENITAL ISSUES like malformed circulatory structures supplying the heart, that's why cholesterol builds up there.  same for strokes!  most cases of atherosclerosis are caused by inflammatory issues in conjunction with high cholesterol.  generally, diabetes and related issues increase the bodywide inflammatory response that controls cholesterol binding to the circulatory system (as a "patch" for injuries).  this increase of insulin throws that mechanism out of balance.  too much blood sugar tears up the internal lining of blood vessels, sugar is like microscopic fiberglass.... cholesterol sticks to inflammed/cut-up tissue due to that constant slicing action, plus the overabundant insulin causing unnecessary inflammation.  diabetics cannot process blood sugar correctly, which means that their bodies cannot properly process lipids as carbohydrates must be burnt off to burn lipids UNLESS ketogenic cycling is doing the work, but that causes extremely low blood sugar and will make a healthy person extremely lethargic under most circumstances.  it also taxes  the liver and kidneys hard due to the high toxicity of ketone byproducts, which diabetics cannot take, nor can they take the low blood sugar without going comatose or dying.  Inuit are not phased by this though, and they are generally fat people that eat MEAT and not much else- how's them apples.  also marathon runners and other high endurance, no muscle "joggin-bones" types have severe issues with atherosclerosis in old age, all that high intensity stress on their scrawny starved bodies tears them up so bad they end up just as unhealthy as a fat person (relative to heart and circulatory issues like strokes and "restless leg syndrome").

being a vegetarian, vegan, weirdo? isn't good for anyone.  balancing macronutrient and exercising are.  preferably meat and weights.  these are the same people that hate guns and have weird morals like hating hunting and self-defense but think abortion is a-okay... they disgust me.  they're far to stupid to figure out the biological processes involved just like they cannot see the obvious issues with being a half-starved leftist fa***.  I hate them.

Thanks for the laugh Val. I'm also recovering a Catholic, I worked at a fish market as a teen and our busiest day was Friday since fish didn't count as meat in the Catholic church.
