T/C Venture in .308
« on: December 12, 2012, 08:13:11 AM »
Shopped for several inexpensive bolt guns to replace the Savage Mod 12BVSS I traded last year. Narrowed down to Ruger American or T/C Venture. Got the Venture, robbed my 10/22 of its Nikon 3x9x40 Buckmaster and  stuck it on TC. Put crosshairs in rough center by rotating lock to lock (7 turns)and put both at 3.5 turns for one end. Didn't have time to get to real bench so first shots wer going to be at 50 yrd. first shot was in 1" sqaure at 6 o'clock bullseye-couldn't believe it, next 2 shots were touching. Moved out to 100 yrds and hit was about 1.5" low. Side to side was dead on. Cranked on elevation and next 3 shots were well within 1" bull square, again 3 of 3 almost touching this time. This was all shot form the arm rest of my wifes car. Can't wait to get it on proper bench or rest! These were some of my leftover handloads from Savage 165 gr Hornady BT hunting load for deer. As far as I am concerned the T/C Venture is a shooter and a keeper!
