Sidekick 50 cal. fun
« on: December 26, 2012, 07:37:30 AM »
I love to shoot this rifle although I only do it to practice for the Ohio ML season coming up.  It is one of the most accurate rifles I own with 2 Pyrodex pellets and PB 295s. I have taken two deer with this combination and neither one went more than 40 yds after being hit.  I also use an aftermarket breechplug which is handier in some ways but the primers get sticky in the plug after fireing just a few rounds.  It wears a Nikon scope.

At 50 yds the other day I shot 3 within 1.5 in. and the next shot at 100 yds was within .5 in. of the 3rd one.

Maybe next year I will experiment with black powder and lead bullets to see what I can do with it!  Joe

I have almost the same set up, except mine wears a Simmons 8 Point scope.  My son took two deer this year during muzzle loading season with it.  He was using TC 240grain Cheap shots, with two T7 pellets.  One deer was DRT, the other took two steps.  Couldn't ask for better performance.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Have been hunting with my Sidekick for years now.  This year is the first year in over ten that I did not hunt with it and take a deer.  I originally bought it as a back up for an Encore and ended up selling the encore!!!  It is now a back up for my new Accura.  I have only a 2.5x Tasco scope on it and that is just right for these heavy woods here in Virginia.

Just another voice in the crowd!!!
