I have a Smith & Wesson 12ga., model 916-A. It's a 3-inch, modified choke with a 27 & 1/2" barrel. Anyone have any info on it?

I believe Mossberg bought out the Smith and Wesson shotgun production (in probably the mid-80's?)  You might get info from Mossberg?

I owned a S&W Model 3000 12ga w/18" imp. cyl.
It had a parkerized finish w/wood stock and forend. I bought it at a gun show in 1985 and kept it about 5 years. It never gave me any problems(still sorry I sold it). It was a military/police shotgun and there were hundreds of them at gunshows in the 80's. I paid $189.00 back then. They also sold a hunting version of this gun with a blue finish and I think 32" barrel. Both of these guns resembled the rem. 870. Alot of people had an issue with "Made In Japan" stamped on the side of the receiver but these were well built guns. If I remember they were built by Howa For S&W.
