No1 MK3 back to mil-spec?
« on: December 15, 2012, 07:31:19 PM »
Good evening everyone. I have a No1 MK3 SMLE that was sporterized long ago by my great uncle that I would like to bring back to original military specification. The rifle itself is in really nice shape and and shoots well, but is missing all the wood that goes on top of the barrel, the barrel band and the end cap. Are those all the parts I would need to bring it back to its 1916 glory? Also where is a good source for such pieces and parts. I would post a photo of the old war horse, but the rifle is at my dads house.

All the Best,

Erik

Numrich Arms (Now called Gun Parts Corp. I believe) in upstate NY is a good source.

Personal opinion is a good thing, and everyone is entitled to one.  The hard part is separating informed opinion from someone who is just blowing hot air....

Grumpy:  check the websites for Numerich Arms/Gun Parts America, SAMCO and SARCO.  All three are parts houses for old mil-surp stuff.  You may also wish to check Century Arms.  HTH.
