Front sight ramp?

I'm planning to replace the front sight on my 45-70 barrel with a Williams Firesight and was on the verge of purchasing the Shorty ramp to accept the sight blade. Then I noticed so many prefer the Remington ramp on their rifles.
What's the reasoning behind the choice? Is it merely cosmetic or something mechanical such as screw hole placement etc?
All feedback would be most certainly appreciated. Thanks.

Usually price.  The remington's are common on Flea bay as many guys mount scopes and remove the sights.  ;)

If that's all it is I'll just go ahead and order the Shorty from Midway. Keeps the sights all Williams components on the rifle. I have a rather large order to place with them anyway.
