Help with magnum scope selection????Please
« on: February 13, 2004, 08:09:43 AM »
Last year I bought a 2-7 x32 Elite.  I am very happy with it's performance in foul weather.  It has reasonable low light ability and eye relief.  However.... I am in need of another scope for my newly barreled 35 Whelen Imp.  The recoil with big bullets is right in there with my 300, and I do not want to worry about flinching for fear of getting hit in the head with the scope.  I like the rainguard of the Elite, but I would still like a little more eye relief and low light ability.  Can anyone recommend something?

If you are worried about eye relief, then I would recommend looking at the Leupold VX-III 2.5-8x36.  I think this scope would suit your needs very well.

I know the Leo's have the best eye relief, but how is the low light gathering?

Leupold is claiming that the new VX-III models have 98% total light transmission.
