Christened the 41 Bisley Monday
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:37:23 AM »
I was about to give up on my 41 bisley blackhawk. I tried a number of different loads trying to get SWC's to pattern and finally went to the old reliable....XTP's.   The first load of 2400 I tried at 25 yards put 6 rounds side by side.  I bumped it up to 17.0 gr and got similar results so I took it to the woods.

If It expanded much, I couldn't tell by the exit hole but it took out the top of the heart and broke the off side shoulder on the way out.  Very short recovery.  Sausage-making time! ;D

Here is my stable of Rugers.  From the top down is a Security Six, 45 Blackhawk convertible, 41 Bisley and 44 Blackhawk.  Lots of fun flinging lead with the boys. :)

Congrats!!!  Nice deer!  I'm taking my 41mag Bisley out to be christened this weekend if I can on a hog.  Using 17.3gr 2400 under a 230gr SWCGC.

Doug:  Good Luck.  What diameter are your swcgc slugs sized to?  A lot of Rugers are a bit overbore and odie-wan may need some slightly larger diameter cast to shoot them accurately, although even with a larger bore the jacketed slugs seem to shoot alright.

Very nice- you are inspiring me. My 41 Bisley has been languishing in the vault the last few years, overshadowed by a mt gun and redhawk. Would love to see more 41 results here.
