Winchester 290 advice, please!
« on: February 11, 2004, 12:45:21 PM »
Hello all.

I have an old Winchester .22 model 290.  It isn't worth anything.  It's ugly.  It is sentimental, as it belonged to my late father.  I need a bolt handle for it (or a complete bolt assembly).  I've been to www.e-gunparts.com.  I'm wondering:  Are the models 190 and 290 similar?  Are there any other good gun parts websites?  Brownells and MidwayUSA can't help either.  Thanks in advance for any help!

Jason, I used to own a Winchester 190 semi-auto and I had a friend with a 290. The 290 had the "nicer wood" of the two and it also had checkering. My 190 was plain jane as they come. Other than that, I saw no difference between them. I sold it years ago. Sorry, I've got  no idea for parts. MI VHNTR
