Semi auto pistol question

Went to my local gun store today and looked at some pistols,too many choices lol.Taurus 24/7 new in 9mm comes with 2 mags mag loader and case 428.00, EEA Witness polymer 9mm new, 405.00 one mag  Glock 22 40 used nice though and 2 mags 425.00.I have had a 23 glock before and am lukewarm over it just kind of curious what you guys would get in the low 400 price range.He had a cz 75 b new also 499.00 and could get me a PO7 duty for 460 ish and I have heard good about the cz line.

I have the EAA Witness Match in .45 ACP, not the polymer version, but I've really loved the design and intend to purchase more of their line in the future.  ;)  One nice thing about the Witness is for about $245 bucks you can buy a kit to change the caliber if you end up wanting to try another one.  8)

I may end up trying the eea,  the thing fit like a glove compared to the glock and I kind of want a 9mm because I would shoot it alot more.The cz po7 fits alot like the eea also.The M&P'S  are more money and I haven't shot one one but they have great ergonomics also. So many guns so little money LOL

my Taurus is / was two guns in one, first (taurus) and last!!  A real POS if there ever was one.  EAA I have zero experience with, so neutral there.  I do not like the fit of the blocks, er um I mean Glocks, that is they just do not fit my hand.  Quality wise they have a good rep tho.  CZ rifles that I have held and fired have been top notch, I would assume their pistols would be similar.  I do have an old Norinco 9mm that has proven to be 100% over the years, so do not think I am speaking badly about lower priced guns.

Same here.


I happen to like Glocks and Kahrs.  The price on law enforcement handoffs isn't bad.

After working in a gun shop for a long time, we were selling EAA's like they were going out of style. The owner and I both carried the 45acp. Like mentioned above you can get a 9mm,38 super, 40 cal and 22 LR set up to fit the frame. I have put thousands of rds thru mine and never a problem. My regular carry is a CZ75B (9mm) that I do a lot of shooting with, and never a problem.

I saw two Sigs in 9mm today at my local Pawn Shop for $500 asking price. Sig are a great platform and out of the box--hard to beat.

Well went to the gun show today and got a pre b cz 75 from a private party with 2 mags and a nice case for 360.00 cash after some haggling.The gun looks in great condition with not much wear so I will clean her up good and give it a range test. ;)

Just my personal opinion, but I'd get a Ruger or Sig.  I'd never put out money for a Taurus.  Don't know anything about EAA.

Money wise the Glock would be the best bet. It's already used, resale would be simple enough if you can't warm up to it, and even with 40,000 rounds down the pipe it would still be my choice compared to the other two mentioned. Every Taurus I've been around has always been defended with "see it works fine" as though even the owner knew it was a piece of crap. EAA would be my second choice but it would be one of their 10mm guns. 8)  I would not hesitate to buy any CZ arm I have ever encountered.

Well a buddy and I took the cz 75 to the makeshift range we have at the trap and archery club I belong to and we shot an assortment of pistols,22 45 9mm.Once I got used to the trigger in single action we shot from a bench at 25 yds and both were very impressed with the accuracy of this gun.I used 4 types of 9mm and couldn't  tell alot of difference in accuracy and function.It was all 115 except one box of 124.He was with me when I bought this gun and he has a few different calibers of Glocks which he has had a long time. He said for what I paid it would be hard to find an out of the box stock 9mm that would shoot that good.I have hunted with 357 wheel guns and had good luck but the only semi in  centerfire I have had was  a 40  glock 23 and just couldn't shoot it like I shoot this.I am very pleased.

Great to hear that you did indeed get a good deal on a "shooter" instead of a decent price on a paper weight.


The only semi-auto I would consider hunting with is my Norinco chambered for 9x19.  Mine likes 147 grain Hydra Shocks best.

Thanks for the report!  Glad you got a shooter!  While I don't know many who own CZs but those that do like them.  Good product for the money.  I think my Interarms Mark X may be tied to the folks who made your pistol and I love that old thing.  Always shoots well.

Yah, congrats on a good purchase.  ;)  I really like the CZ 75 type design.  The slide in rail is really an improvement in my opinion.  ;)

I've had a "gunshow" CZ 75 for a few years and I have no complaints.  I also have a full size EAA  10 mm and a smaller poly .45 acp.  They are all nicely finished, fine shooting pistols!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!
