Year of mfr can be found in the FAQs and Help sticky, but it starts in 1940 with a "A" prefix, if the serial number doesn't have a letter prefix, it was made prior to 1940, a pic of the gun would help.

Hi all,
I also have an old H&R and am trying to determine its age. It's a single shotgun 4-10 GA with no patent number info on the side. But it does have the number 9102 stamped to the barrel that can be seen on the left side when its open, and also stamped near the trigger. I'd be happy to post some pictures if anybody wants. It still shoots fine.

Look for the serial number on the bottom of the trigger guard tang, the 9102 is likely the last 4 digits of the serial number, if it is, and is has a letter prefix, the letter denotes the year of mfr which can be determined by checking the list in the FAQs sticky.

It was made in Worcester, MA.  Is there a date when they moved from there?
