Father In Law Passed
« on: February 07, 2004, 02:55:05 PM »
Tonight my father in law, 87 years young, passed away from Cancer.  To the many who know me from Marlin Talk, I ask a prayer be said for Len and for his family left behind.  It is a blessing that he is not in pain and went quickly, but hard on those of us who remain to say goodbye.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks one and all for the posts.  Len was one of the quite ones, went through D day, Battle of the Bulge, Hertigan Forrest (Sp?)  very rarely said anything about the war except one story while in the Hertigan Forrest he had helped dig a foxhole and was preparing for some sleep and a friend of the others in the foxhole asked if he would trade foxholes so he could be with his friends.  He did and that night a shell landed in the foxhole he had moved from killing all the men in it.  You could tell that story gave him quite pause.  He worked 20 years fishing and cooking on a fishing boat in Alaska during the summer and delivering fuel oil during the winter.  He was still on two bowling leagues when he finally stopped bowling at the age of 82.    Hope nobody minds, but sharing a little bit about him makes me feel better.
