Stevens Model 80 shooting gallery pump 22cal.
« on: February 21, 2013, 11:37:22 AM »
I picked this stevens model 80 gallery pump rifle over a year ago.  I would hardley function when i ran the action.  I sprayed it with some PB blaster and let it soak and now she is starting to loosen up.  She's a weird looking pump rifle afterall its the next model after the stevens model 70 visible loader. I guess next to my model 1890 winchester pump and my 1906 remington pump she is right in there age wise. Anyone collect the turn of the last century pump 22's?

I love the early 22s. Never had a mod 80 but I used to have a visible loader. Neat design but mine was in really rough shape with no rifling left. I ended up giving it to a friend. He intended to restore it but I don't think he ever did.

Don't have them anymore, wore them out, but I had a Winchester pump 1890, two 1906's (and a 1903 auto) since the mid 50's that had all been bought new by my family and handed down to me.  1890 was 1901; one 1906 was 1914, the 1903 from 1909.   Oldest 22RF's I still have is a High Standard/JCH Model 31 Auto I got new in 1959, and a HS HD Miltary Auto from 1949 I got in 1955.   But I have other handguns, rifles and shotguns from family that were made going back into the 1890's.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

The old 22 pumps were great little rifles. I have a Visible loader in really nice shape, my great grandfathers Win 1890 he purchased new, my dads Win 1906, and my uncles Rem 12C. The 1906 is a 1937, the Winchester book says a lot of the 1937 rifles were built from parts inventory. I have never seen another 1906 like this one. Along the way I picked up several old Marlin 39As. All the old rifles are like me, Retired.
