hey Glock owners...
« on: June 25, 2004, 04:57:07 AM »
Can you "shoot out" a glock? What I mean is, if you had one of the first models and you shot it weekly for the life of the gun, what kinds of problems or issues would you expect to see?

I ask, 'cause I am intersted in owning a glock and with a little work I have found a few in the $300 to $375 range, but I am not sure what to look for as far as "issues" or problems. I have heard of the Glock reputation as a FANTASICALLY reliable gun, but they are mechanical and have the potential to "wear out", but I am not sure what questions to ask or what to look for....

thank you

dave

Ask the folks down at Symara Georgia. They have a Glock 17 down there that has a couple of zillion rounds thru it. Don't know what parts that have been replaced on it. I'm sure you can find out on the web site. I have a mdl 21 and 36 with more than a few rounds thru them with no visible signs of wear.

Dave,
I have an old glock 22 that was a LEO trade in gun and i have shot about 2000 rounds through it and it has never missed a beat, I used it to get my
CCW permit and stuck them all in the middle hole, I now have a new 22
i accrued in a long winded trade. When they first came on the market i
swore i would never have one but that has all changed, In answer to your question dave i don't think you can wear on the things out,, Well Maybe.
Have a good one...............Joe..............................................................

I have a 1st generation G21 that I bought in West Germany (K-town rod&gun club)with over 35'000 rounds thru it.....not an exagereration.
Mostly military GI ball and assorted defense rounds
Glasers,Magsafes,Hydrashocks and such and aluminum cased CCI blazer and now steel case Wolf ammo..... and some factory plus-P ammo.
But I normaly stay away from  RELOADS....OK once and I had a primer only round that lodge a bullet in the barrel..
Kept it clean and lubed it in the right places...It a real light lube..
It does show wear marks on contact areas(inner slide&rails) but they ended up polished.
And since I avoid any P-plus-P-plus-P or PROOF ROUNDS.
It has not fragged me like the cops in Oregon.
Buy the way.Glock does not admit that there was a potential batch that was wrong but  if you call and speak to a Tech and give him your Ser# for a a G21 they will tell you if it might be one in question that falls inline with the ones the  Oregon cop's used.
I still belive it was the ammo they used and NOT the Gun...
