Topper Model 158 Help
« on: December 16, 2012, 05:57:30 PM »
I recently got a used Model 158 from a gun shop. Only thing I don't like about it is it has a rebounding hammer. Is it possible, if I get the requisite internals, to convert it to a transfer bar system?

Possible, maybe but it would be kinda expensive.  There is nothing wrong with the rebounding hammer system.  I have a Stevens .410 with a rebounding hammer and wouldn't mess with it for the world.  Leave it like it is.

What JP said, most anyone here prefers the old style hammer and action, I've converted modern frames to old style low hammers which is fairly easy, but not the other way, I suspect the internal dimensions of the frame would have to be modified to make room for the additional parts.

If you actually could do it I'll bet you would have no trouble finding somebody here to take that original stuff off your hands......
