Scope-which one?

I want a better scope on my 17HMR Sporster. I can get a new Redfield Revolution 4-12 for $200 or a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 for $165. Both are brand new. I kind of like the recticle on the Redfield better but the Nikon does have the BDC which is better than a standard 4 plex. What do you think?

I like to install larger powder varaibles on my rimfires. 3-12, 4-12, 6-18 etc.  Normally I recomend a Leupold, but not on my RF;s. Reciently, I have been really impressed with the new Simmons scopes. Clear, Bright, handi friendly, excellent focus, awesome eye relief too! It has a std duplex/four plex reticule. For me on mt Maggie with a 50g bullet. I sited it dead on at 50 and top of bottom post at 100. I am a happy camper!!!

Natchez is having a sale on two excellent scopes that I think will do you rite.  A 4x12 and a 6x18 x40 with a side focus, fast focus bell and matte finish.  I bought one and LOVE IT. SO MUCH so I bought FOUR more!!!  Right now they are killer priced too! 60&70$!!! Almost half what they will be later.  They are clear and bright with finger tip adjustments and the side focus rocks. I was amazed at the clearity when setting the focus for the distance I was shooting.







Give one a shot, I think you will like it as much as me!!

I'm looking for a 22 scope myself.  I do have several low end scopes laying around that came on rifles I've bought, and I could, and have, used them.  However, I would like a scope with the parallax set at 50 yards instead of 100.   :-\
 
Has this (the parallax that is) ever been a problem for you Brie?

Abso freakin tootly!! ;) All I buy is adjustable objective scopes OR rim fire specific scopes for my rim fires. This is one place I do intentionally over scope. ;)

This new Simmons is a parallax adjustable scope. Only it's adjusted on the side of the turret not the objective. Wish we where closer I know you would agree this scope is the cats a$$!! Clear crisp view of cross hairs AND target simultaneously!!! All for <100$!?! Whats not to love?

Thans for the advice. I went with the Redfield Revolution 4-12x. It was a very good price and I like to buy local when ever I can. Now to get the transmission on the Jeep finished so I can get out and test it!!

I never see it mentioned but my favorite is bushnell sportsman 4-12x40 AO and adjustable eyepiece.
I have two and have never had a problem with them.
one cost $70 the other $59.

I love the side focus scopes.  After I bought a Night Force with side focus I refuse to buy anything with out side focus.

The OP seems to have found his scope... BUT if anyone else is interested in a very fine Sub-$200 optic for their rimfire rifles... Take a look at the Hawke Varmint SF series... I have personally used Leupold VXI, VXII and Rifleman, Simmons Aetec and Predator, Bushnell Banner and Elite 3200, Redfield, Burris Fullfield and Timberline, BSA Contender and Mueller APV, APT, Eraticator, Target, Multi-Shot and Sport Dotscopes (bit of a Mueller fan!)... But I gotta say the Hawke Varmint SF with "1/2 Mil-Dot" reticle is my new favorite... I have it in 3-12x, 4-16X and 6-24X... It is bright, clear, forgiving and well made... And I love this reticle for rimfire. JMO.
