Anyone interested in the vast array of captured, experimental, or unusual artillery pieces the US Army had at its various posts ca. 1888 would really enjoy the document linked in blue in this brief article.  The lists contain many types of artillery I know nothing about, never heard of before, etc.

The Navy has a similar collection of lists, also prepared for Congress at the same time, but linking to it isn't easy so I'll leave that one for later.
