Print A group of dancers made the New York Stock Exchange less of a drag on the quiet trading day before Christmas.
On Monday, the all-male dance group, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, headed to the NYSE to spread a little holiday cheer. The group of 12 ballet dancers, which is celebrating a three-week engagement at the Joyce Theatre in New York, rang the opening bell for NYSE.
“In my 25 years of doing publicity, this is only the third time I’ve had a client doing the opening bell at the NYSE,” Richard Kronberg, a publicist for the Joyce Theatre told ABC News. “The stock exchange usually selects corporations or clients and they book these things way in advance.”
But, on Monday the heavily made up ballet troupe made the appearance on its off day. The troupe, known throughout the world after making appearances in more than 30 countries, shared their excitement by racing out into the streets after launching the morning markets.
The troupe, affectionately known as Trocks, is performing at the Joyce Theatre in New York through Jan. 6.
