9 mm accuracy
« on: February 11, 2013, 10:33:24 AM »
I am seeking info on how the 9mm cylinder performs in a FA 97 .357 mag. I talked to John at FA and he said he had  heard mixed results, and said he had also heard it was ammo sensitive. What I am looking for is first hand info from somebody that has shot one extensively and can report on how it works accuracy wise.  Thanks  Makilly

Check out this thread - just happens that someone asked a similar question recently, so I ran a few rounds of 9 through my 5 1/2" barrel Model 97.

I found that American Eagle 147 gr JFP were very accurate in off-hand shooting at 25 feet. No question it was much more accurate than any other 9 mm round I've tried in this gun, and in fact, more accurate than most 38/357/9 I've tried. In fact I've found it to be one of the most accurate cartridges I've fired in this 97, be it 38, 357 or 9. That's just my experience with admittedly very little data, but hope it helps.

As soon as my M97 returns from Wyoming I will be glad to run more 9 through it if I can find the stuff... and post the results.

Seems to me handloading 9mm brass with .357 jacketed and .358 cast bullets would be the thing to do with a 9mm cylinder in a 357 revolver.
