Hello all,
I've been reading quite a bit in the other threads and figure it's time for an introduction. My name is Mike, I live in Northern Massachusetts just over the line from New Hampshire. I've wanted to hunt for most of my life but have never really had access to firearms or a mentor. Now that my kids are out of the "Don't shoot Bambi" stage, I've decided to live a little and get outdoors much more often. It looks like this forum has alot to offer for someone just getting started.
I've joined a local rod and gun club and taken the state's hunter education class. I still need the gun safety class and a permit from the local police to carry and /or hunt. The class and permit are $100.00 each. My budget for this is somewhat limited and I've been reading quite a bit about the H&R/NEF options. I've also discovered that I'm cross-wired and would like to experiment with shooting lefty. The NEF firearms seem to fit the bill for budget and experimentation. The other consideration is the acceptable firearms for hunting in Mass. To hunt in all seasons I will need 22lr, a shotgun, and a muzzeloader. I'm thinking of starting with a sportster in 22lr and then will need some advice on a smart way to configure a Topper/Handi/Huntsman for 20 gauge modified choke, 20 gauge rifled slug, 50 cal muzzleloader. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
