S&W N Frames in nickel finish
« on: March 14, 2013, 07:26:58 AM »
I just picked up another NIB S&W Model 24 in 44 special with a 6 1/2" barrel in nickel finish.  A few months agao. Its the last 6 1/2" barreled N frame in nickel my LGS had in stock. I wasn't looking for a new S&W N Frame in 44special but that dam nickel finish bug bit me again.  I been grabbing all the new S&W N frames i could because my gutt feeling is that S&W is the last revolver manufacturer to still offer the nickel finish.  I beleive that rockIland armory/ citadel is still offering the nickel finish on there 1911's.  But colt has discontinued there nickel finish along with most of there revolvers too.  I'm hoping that S&W does not go this route with there N frame revolvers.  I'm still not seeing any new S&W revolvers in my LGS yet. I'm wondering if S&W is going to do away with the loc on all there guns?  This could be the only reason I could think of for the lull in the amount of new S&W guns being offered to us.  I figure "maybe" S&W gave the dealers a heads up so the dealers can dump the old stock with the locs.  If this is true either way i'm grabbing the new/old stock with the locs anyway, mainly because the price on this discontinued model with the loc will go up abd be sought after by S&W collectors.  This is just my thoughts and gutt feelings.       Thanks, 1911czy

Don't hold your breath on the locks disappearing any time soon. I can remember years back when I first started training to work Haz Mat and a movie they showed us in training. Showed a sub contractor of a east coast company dumping wastes from Nickeling process into streams and such. Caused quite a stir back then and nickel guns dried up after that. Wondered if that was Smith or possibly Colt at the time.

Heck colt offers no handguns right now let alone the nickel option.   S&W and RIA/Citadel are the last ones left in nickel.  i like the nickel finish over the blued guns.  i polish them over oiling them up.
