how do you predict the weather? the other day i read if you see a male cardinal it will rain. i saw 1 at lunch time and it was raining by 4. 1/4 moon tips point down when rain is coming. persimmon seeds have a spoon in them when there will be a bad winter. i have a rain stick that i just put up today, its a willow limb that points down when rain is coming. smoke goes down, and leaves show there undersides.

Seriously though, " red sky at night sailors delight and red sky in the morning sailors take warning" is a pretty reliable indicator.

   yeah , if the local grocery store is sold out of bread and milk its going to snow.

the elderly neighbor by my place says
when you hear the train horn blow at

will rain within 1-2 days. she's been
right since i've owned the place.

  IF that was true, it woulde be raining EVERY day at my place!  There's lots cardinals around where i live...

If cows are laying down in the pasture it will rain within 24 hours.  If they're standing up it will be fair tomorrow.

Only thing I've seen that has never been wrong is that if you see a ring around the moon it will rain within three days.

  The only thing i've seen that absolutely works....every time!!  Is to go outside, look around and see what the weather is doing!!

A backing wind (counter clockwise shift) is no man's friend.  The predicts strong wind and rain.

In  the   summer   snakes   start  crawling   2 to  3  hours  before  it  rains  .

lots of box turtles crossing the road going uphill usually means a big rain is comeing.

if yu hear about me planning a fishing/camping trip it will prob rain about the time i get to my destination.

During the warm months, we watch the snails here. If they are climbing, rain is on the way, usually within 2 weeks. The higher they go, the worse the flooding will be. We watch the mesquites here in the fall. The heavier the bark on the north side, the colder the winter. In the summer, we watch the oaks. If the branches hang low, it's going to be hot/dry. We pretty much know about 2 weeks ahead of any flooding up north. In the spring if we have high winds from the southeast, meaning it's coming off of the coast, with LOTS of heavy clouds heading north for over a week, somebody, usually Missouri-Ohio are is going to get flooded. Hopefully I can report that this next spring as I understand it's pretty dry up there.
