1" scope mount for Stevens 84C ?
« on: February 13, 2004, 09:31:40 AM »
I have a Stevens model 84C that I would like to find a scope mount for that will hold a 1" scope. It has a mount on it for the smaller rimfire scope that comes up off the side of the receiver. I was thinking of getting a blank Weaver style rail and drilling the action for it. But thought that was alot to do if someone already makes a mount like I need. I know it seems alot to spend on a gun like this but it shoots really well and I use it alot for practice. Does anyone know of a 1" mount available for this rifle? LouisV

If that mount will accept the regular 3/8 dovetail rings used on 22 rifles all the ring manufactures make 1in. rings to fit it. :D    JIM

Thanks for the reply. The mount that is on it isn't made to accept anything else. The plate that comes up from the side of the receiver is bent at the top to form the lower half of the ring. I'll keep looking and maybe settle for just a newer rimfire scope that will fit this mount. I just need alittle better optics and thought the 1" tube would be nice to have. LouisV

Weaver makes a side mount for several rifles.  The mount is a plate that screws to the side of the action and the rings detach and are seperate pieces.  I bought a M75 Winchester that had a mount as yours (probably a weaver "N" mount) put on the side.  I bought a Weaver side mount and added 1 inch rings and a quality scope.  Measure the distance between the mounting holes on the existing side mount and call Brownells Tech line.  They can tell you if the side mount base weaver still makes has the same hole spacing.  If so all you need do is order...  The mount screws to the side but the scope is still located ove the top center of the weapon...
