ODNR isn't thrilled with the idea and Farm Bureau ain't pushing for it so I wouldn't hold my breath.

ODNR has no clue what their doing and never will , why can a hunter use an In-line ML with 120g of Black Powder , yet I can't use a single shot 44 mag , 357 mag , 45 colt or 45/70 with BP ?

Why can I use a 30/06 for tree rats but have to use a Slug gun for deer ? They just have no clue what firearms can and can't do , they are just a bunch of egg heads & bean counters .  >:( >:( >:( >:( ???

stimpy,

if you don't have an opinion why did you post?  ;D

I think the DNR's "body of work" just proves how easy it is to get a biology degree at a state funded college. (I am proud of myself for not fanning this fire. ::) )

With advancements in ammo and rifled slug guns that 20 or 12 guage can shoot just as far as any pistol caliber with precision accruacy so it just does not make any "ballistic" sense why the DNR does not allow it. I hope you Buckeyes get your chance. Us Hoosier really like those pistol calibers. It has been great fun and as far as I know not a single incident attributed to a "pistol caliber in a rifle".  Of course we can use a "rifle caliber in a pistol", but that's just uncivilized.  ???  Opens up whole new hunting experiences.

slugs weigh more and travel farther after striking an object and glancing off. The handgun round out of a rifle is alot safer in populated areas. Any agency that does not understand this could be a court case waiting to happen. If someone gets hurt and sues the agency what defense could they muster ?

Oh dang, now I need to get another barrel for the Handirifle.... maybe. ;D

Stimpy, why stop at .30-06 for tree rats?  Nothing less than a .458 Win Mag will stop these Buckeye Squirrels, don't you know?

got info from a very good reliable source today. 1.) they have some final tweaking to do but looks like 2014 we will be able to use pistol cal. rifles. they are going to kinda follow Indians laws.  2.) the extra Saturday and Sunday gun season is out for this year. so is the special early muzzle loader season at saltfork and other forests. 3.)  they are going to have a state wide two day season MZ season in October though.  4.) bag limits are being changed per county to. he wasn't 100% sure on the bag limit change as of then.   hope its all true except the lose of the two day gun season.
