(WHAS11) -- Newly elected, US Congressman Thomas Massie from Kentucky has introduced a bill that would repeal the gun-free school zones act.
This would make it legal for people to have firearms on school campuses.
"Gun free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals," Massie said.
The bill called the "Citizens Protection Act of 2013" was first introduced by Texas republican Ron Paul in 2007.
