The good news is that it is making it way out to other pro-gun resources:

Time to make some calls and emails:

BREAKING: Illinois Bill to Ban All Modern Firearms

Posted on January 1, 2013 by Robert Farago

Press release:
“The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will  introduce a so called ‘assault weapons’ ban on Wednesday when the  legislature returns for its ‘lame duck’ session. Cullerton hopes to  ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by  Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently  own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois  State Police . . .

“Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called ‘assault weapons’ but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.”

TTAG’s sources tell us there will be two bills: one for  semi-automatic rifles, lever guns, shotguns and handguns with certain  features (e.g., threaded barrels); and one for ammunition magazine  capacity.

Mags would be limited to 10 rounds and owners of existing magazines holding more than 10 rounds would have to register them with the state police.

One [non-ISRA] gun guy on the front lines in the Land of Lincoln  tells TTAG that the odds of the bills going through are 50 – 50. He  advises gun owners both in and out of state to call Senate President  Cullerton at 217 782 2000 and/or find another legislator to pester at ilga.gov.

“If gun owners around the country melt the phone lines in the next three days we can push this thing back . . . that would be a tremendous morale boost ahead of federal legislation.”

I wouldn't bother pushing it back, I would let it pass and let the illinois police begin the process of getting ready for confiscation, then I would mass American gun owners on the borders and prepare to liberate the Poeple's State of Illinois from the oppression of being defenseless.  We could free the state all the way from chicago to its southern borders, but leave chicago as a international port subject to federal jurisdiction, like washington dc, with a population mass of unarmed sheeple.

I'm waiting for that spark to ignite the fires here in nys and for the fight to start.  I would rather catch a bullet or suffer a coronary while fighting for my freedoms than to live in subjugation.

Yes, call your legislator, for whatever good it does.  Melt down his telephone lines so he can hear your protests.  Don't tell the sob that you will burn his house and his office and force him onto the streets in the bitter winter and stone him or that you will force his family out and into the cold if he votes to disarm you.  Don't tell the sob you will print his address and telephone number in the newspaper so everyone who will want him eliminated will call his home, threaten his family or carry out their threats.  By God, don't tell him anything like that.  Don't call the stupid sob and tell him that if he votes for something as communist as disarmament that the 400,00 someodd hunters who go afield every year in illinois will march on his home town and his home and there won't be enough cops in the four surrounding states to stop it.  My God, don't tell that stupid sob that if he threatens disarmament he threatens his own very existence, and I don't mean political existence..... Geez, don't tell him anything like that.......  Oh yeah, don't forget who the commie mayor of shicago iz.........

Even if this socialist law does pass, how does a state or even federal government go about confiscating personal property without reimbursing the owners of that property?  Then again if they can ignore the second amendment why not the fifth? There's two rights gone in one foul swoop!

I agree with you totally.  but there's not enough real men left to change back to freedom.

This ban passed through committee yesterday and is on it's way to the floor for a vote. I've not seen one word of this in the mainstream media and it should be headline news. I don't live in Illinois and as such would not be effected by this, but as an American I'm outraged that they can get away with this.

Big Blue:  reimbursement?  What the hay are you talking about?  They aren't going to reimburse anyone for anything, they are simply going to take by force and you can go crap your pants if you don't like it.  It's like what new york's cuomo said after sandy hook - confiscation, permitting, etc.  The term 'reimbursement' sure as all hell wasn't included in the concept of confiscation.

So, they will send out teams of local pd, or county sheriffs to go door to door, most likely, with blanket search warrants and the authority to confiscate firearms by force.

It won't matter one squat if someone sues the state for violations of federal rights, it will be like hurricane katrina and st. louis - they take and you don't get them back,  tough crap.

If you don't want to surrender your firearms and sole means of defense you will have to physically fight to keep them and force those back who would come to take them.  Failing the efforts by local law enforcement I would expect the state police and then the national guard to take to the field, and then the fight will be on.

I seriously doubt the commander of the State's National Guard has the intestinal fortitude to go place the governor under arrest for violating the Constitution, requiring all men in the state to arm up and form a state militia, and to place the state under martial law while awaiting new elections.

just a minor thought, these so called 'assault weapon bans' and ' high capacity magazine bans' will only violate the Bill of Rights under the First, Second, Fourth and Fifth Amendments.  Hmm, what ever happened to "Support and defend the Constitution"? I guess the oath of office means nothing anymore.

Retroactive addition.  Swampy is correct, add in the Fourteenth Amendment.

As well as the Fourteenth Amendment.  A court decision in Washington State incorporated the 14th Amendment into the RTKBA arena, predating the Heller decision.     But they are just numbers to Democrats anyway.
