While deer hunting with my .54 yesterday morning a coyote came trotting through the timber. He was stopping to investigate tracks as he worked his way down into a timbered "bowl" area where three small creeks come together. I watched him for about 15 minutes and when he got about 30 yards from me he stopped again to check out something in a clump of grass. He was standing sideways, so I decide "why not?" and put the front sight low on his ribs and squeezed it off. That big .54 RB just about cut him in half!!!!!
The pelt was ruint! But that's one more Coyote that won't be eating on the deer herd this winter!
Holding out for a big buck right now, but if I start to run outta days off I'm going to go ahead and take another fat doe!
BTW, they are starting to drop antlers now.
