Just curious Brian. What was the other Marlin at the range?
The other thought I had....what would happen if you used a slower powder like 1680 or RL7 in both the .357 and the .454. Could they cut pressure in the .357, reduce recoil in the .454 and perhaps give better velocity in both? Don't know, just askin'. The problem I have most with the pistol calibers is that most data is just for that...pistols...burn it all in a 6.5 inch barrel.

Good Morning Pete! I don't have an answer for you, but know RL7 has been used in the 45 colt for some very heavy loads. Western Powders distributes the Accurate brand and have been very quick to answer any questions I have e-mailed to them. The main guy I talked with is no longer there, but others will help you. 1680 is used for full house loads as well as one for lead in the 30,000 plus PSI range in the 454. DP
