My Christmas Addition
« on: December 27, 2012, 10:01:47 AM »
Here is my gift from Stephanie and the boy.  It finally came in on Christmas Eve.  Had to pick it up yesterday.

H&R 925 .38S&W(.38 Short) 2.5" barrel.   Made in 1967.   It appears to have never been fired.  The dust in the bore is that - box dust.  Came with original box.

Sorry about the crappy pictures.   My rechargeable batteries in my digicam will only hold enough charge for 1 picture before needing to recharge.

It makes up for the 5 guns I had to sell this year to keep the lights on and food on the table.

I've wanted one of these since I was a kid.  When I was 5-6 years old I went with my dad to the gun shop so he could pick up some rifle or shotgun that he had ordered.  I saw one of these in the display case..  ...its been on my mind since 1977 or 1978, but could never find one in new condition.   The only ones I was ever able to find in gun shops were beat up.

Now enter some time in early December 2012 - I was at one of the local dealers seeing what they had in stock.   Well, nothing tickled my fancy.   As the dealer and I made some small talk on guns I mentioned that a mint condition 925 was on the top of my list.    ...well, later that day the dealer messaged me on FaceBook, provided a picture of one, and asked if I wanted it.   I yelled over to the Mrs',  "Babe, a gun dealer has found my dream gun".   She told me to say yes, and that it'd be her and the boy's gift to me.

Well, it took a couple days for the dealer to win the auction, and nearly 2 weeks for it to arrive from the selling dealer.   ....but I'm as happy as a pig in mud even though we paid a little more than they typically go for.   Perfect bluing, not a scratch on it, absolutely no signs of having been fired, just the faintest drag mark on the cylinder from the lock, locks up tighter than any S&W I've owned, even tighter than my Colt Python.   ..no carbon, leading, or anything.   The bluing in the bore and chamber is perfect.

Not bad for a gun made 45 years ago.
