The saving grace is that I am in Columbia every several weeks and so there is no shipping costs. The down side is they dont have on site storage of the hazmat materials so I cant buy powder direct.

Always a fan of Midway until last powder/primer/parts order. I should have read fine print! >:(
They shipped parts in one box, primers in another box with hazmat fee and powder is dropped shipped from some idot warehouse yet another box and hazmat fee. :o Powder order came in later than anything else, and had wrong powder! >:( Oh and as always UPS just dropped the hazmat boxes on front step and ran away with no one home box had red stickers all over it.  :-\  So after paying for three seperate shipping boxes and two differant hazmat fees I still didn't get the right powder which was N140, hard to find locally. Called Midway, I was told to call this idot! ::) Idot says sorry NP I will send you the right powder. No word weeks went by......called Midway again....was told same thing, I said that didn't work last time,  >:(  this time the guy put me on hold and called idot directly, then came back and said your correct powder is on it's way and you can keep the other powder.  ::)

Never again...not sure I want to order anything from Midway in general....life is too short! Whoever made this decisian to stock powder offsite at some other company should be fired! 8)

My guess would be local zoning board.

Option one stop selling powder.
Option two store/ship off site.

To all you young whippersnappers reminiscing about your Gander Mtn catalogs, I still have some Herters Model Perfect stuff in amongst my tools. In fact I'm still using their case length gauge.

I am just shy of 50, BUT I also remember and  still have some Herters products!

When I started handloading saving money was one reason but it seemed there were a lot less offerings in factory loadings.  I wanted to find the "sweet spot" with my rifle ( I owned one centerfire) and certain bullet/powder combinations. I was able to shrink my groups by quite a margin but I never saved a dime. I do think I am a better shot because of the simple fact that I shot more- both in working up loads and shooting them after I arrived at what I thought was the best combination. Now at this point in my life I find that handloading has another obvious benefit in the fact that I have accumulated so many components that I think I can shoot for the rest of my life and not worry about ammo shortages.  It also seems components are a pretty good investment. Everybody talks about gold but I wish I would have bought lead.
