A Missouri mother is outraged after her daughter's school district allegedly suggested the 13-year-old get a breast reduction to stop bullying.
Tammie Jackson said her daughter, a sixth-grade student at Central Middle School is being sexually harassed because of her breast size, Fox2Now.com reported.

When Jackson called the school district to complain she said a woman suggested to me, "to have my daughter get a breast reduction," she told Fox2Now.com.
The school district tells the news site that the incident is still being investigated.
The school also said they are working to counsel students to resolve other bullying issues.
Jackson, who also claims her 9-year-old son is bullied for scars on his chest from a heart condition, wants the school to "talk with the kids."

"Let them know people's bodies are changing, everyone is different, but God made us all great," she told Fox2Now.com.
Jackson also said the superintendent has reached out to say they are working on a plan to resolve the issues regarding both of her children.

it all starts in the home.
21st century public schools are no
longer institutions of learning, but
instead are state-sponsored day-care centers.

If the little girl was raped would it be her fault for being female? Taht is exactly what they are saying about the breast reduction issue. It looks like the teachers and counselors have a double standard when it comes to doing what is right.

Don't stop the bullies it's the victims fault. Except of course when it is their kid being bullied.

First bullying offense should be one week suspension from school.
Second offense, expel them for the rest of the school year.  when mom and dad have to arrange for his keep during the day, things might change.

I agree. The problem would be to determine what constitutes bullying. In the article it states the mother also complained her son is being bullied. Did she get blowned off by school officails because she is a chronic complainer, or does she have legitimate complaints? The suggestion of a breast reduction may have been sincere also, and not just a brush-off or joke. Just like any other news story, odds are, the source is making the most of it and has slanted it to suit their purpose.

That said, there is no room in our schools and society in general for bullying. While kids are kids and teasing and insults will always be a part of growing up, young folks need to know from day one it is not acceptable. Sad part is, most bullies learn their actions at home, not at school, thus the solution must start at home.
